Stop guessing and start calculating. Our easy-to-understand guide to poker math will teach you the essential numbers you need to make profitable decisions and crush your opponents.
Pot odds are the ratio of the current pot size to the cost of your next bet.
An "out" is a card that will improve your hand. If you're on a flush draw with two cards to come, you have 9 outs (the 9 remaining cards of your suit). If you're on a straight draw, you have 8 outs.
Pot odds tell you whether a call is profitable based on the current pot size, but implied odds consider the money you might win in future betting rounds.
Players who don't understand poker math are easy to exploit. They call too often with weak hands, fold too often to aggression, and don't understand the value of their draws.
